Autopilot Pump in its 37th year

It’s always a pleasure to hear from a customer who has been using one of our products for a long time.  Today, however, I think we have broken all records! This Hy-ProDrive ‘102’ unit, one of our first pumps, is still happily operating the autopilot in a Princess 412 in its 37th year.  Weighing 9 tons and 41 feet long, these luxury motor cruisers were built between 1979 and 1982 and our 2.5 litre reversing pump was fitted in 1979.

The yacht is currently undergoing routine maintenace and the engineers, Mantsbrite Marine, rang to ask us what current the pump would be drawing.

Hy-ProDrive have moved on since 1979 and now offer a range of reversing pumps, the equivalent now being the PR25.  The new pumps, being precision gear pumps are super quiet and very economical on power.  This is particularly important on sailing yachts where people enjoy an engine-free experience for most of the time.  

The Hy-ProDrive range is sold to major autopilot manufacturers around the world, including Raymarine, Garmin, B&G and Coursemaster.
