Here at Hy-Pro we now have not one but two MB-4000H, high-speed, thermally stable horizontal machining centres. These high-performance machines, enable us to handle the toughest manufacturing challenges and production demands.
The machines were chosen as they are manufactured by OKUMA, worldwide industry innovators since 1954 and a name at the forefront of CNC technology today.
Our first machine was purchased in 2015, predominantly to enable ‘lights out’ production where the machine could be left to run continuously outside of any daytime working hours.
The machines boast powerful high-speed spindles, delivering up to 12,000 RPM and are equipped with an effective coolant system maintaining consistent cutting performance even during extended periods of use. This is perfect for our night-time production scheduling, as these machines can be run for far longer periods.
The two machines work on pallets, that are loaded with the raw material, which are then machined to create the product. Hypro have also increased the numbers of pallets for various products, to further increase our capacity. With increased pallets, these machines will keep production capacity well ahead of all and any, anticipated growth in sales.
The decision to purchase a second machine was made in 2020, that means we now have the capability to produce everything, and more than our customers are ever likely to require. The fact that we now also have two identical models, means we also have backup, preventing any machine downtime or break in production scheduling.

A key feature of the MB-4000H’s are their advanced intuitive control systems, enabling a range of functions and features including high speed machining control, 3D tools compensation and high precision contour control. This makes the machines key in our valve production process, working on everything from main bodies, slices, inlets and outlets
