METS Show in Holland – Hy-Pro Are Exhibiting!

The METSTRADE show is known for its global popularity in exhibiting marine and construction materials. Being the world’s largest trade show within this sector, the event specialises in B2B networking and are proud to welcome Hy-Pro’s exhibition stand, from 19th – 21st November.

What is the METSTRADE Show?

Based in Amsterdam, this trade show is a base in which marine leisure professionals can come together to market their products and connect with various international companies that share similar qualities.

This platform provides opportunities for marine brands across the globe to acquire strong leads and establish relationships with other employers. The MET Show ran their first show in 1988 and continues to expand on its visitors and exhibitors, including Hy-Pro.

Who Visits the Show?

The multi-award-winning trade show represents 121 different companies and their expertise in marine and construction equipment. This allows not only the attending companies but its audience to gather more advanced knowledge on the manufacture and trade of these products.

Last year’s show accommodated over 26,000 visitors, including both companies and prospects within the industry.

The worldwide event attracts great publicity and attention every year, due to obtaining some of the top global companies. Last year, 279 trade journalists attended the event.

Our Stand

Hy-Pro will be presenting a selection of our hydraulic autopilot drives that all comply with the new RCD requirements. We are proud to exhibit our range of products in the sense of their durability and overall productivity, providing purpose for a wide range of customers at the trade show.

Similar to our attendance in last year’s show, we intend to meet with many distributors and present them with solutions to any issues their facing and build on their knowledge of hydraulics.

We’re on stand 03.333 at the show this year and will be offering our marine customers a 15% discount for all orders we receive at the show for delivery in 2019.

This Year’s Pavilions

This year’s METS show will be accompanying three different pavilions for us to participate in. These categorise the expertise of the exhibitors attending the show into different specialities. The pavilions are as follows:

  • SuperYacht Pavilion
  • Construction Material Pavillion
  • Marina & Yard Pavilion

You can find more information on these and see the full list of exhibitors here.

The 2019 METSTRADE Show will be presenting a variety of stages for its exhibitors. There will be a platform for boat builders, designers and architects so that companies can exchange knowledge and present their work and materials alike. There will also be a ‘construction in process’ stage to offer more of an engaging and interactive display at the exhibition. This is the perfect platform to become inspired by the raw materials and processes that acquire them.

For more information on the different platforms the Metstrade Show will be offering, you can find out here.

To find out more information about our stand or to register as an attendee for this year’s METSTRADE Show, you can sign up to the list here. Alternatively, contact us at Hy-Pro for more information! If you’re coming along to the show please do stop by our stand and say hello, we’re looking forward to talking to you!

Our Experience at the METS Trade Show

Our representatives recently attended the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam again this year, following the success of our time at the show last year.

Upcoming BFPA Conference on Fluid and Lubricant Contamination

The BFPA is holding a technical conference in Bath this September, and whilst we are not attending this conference, it may be of interest to some of our customers and partners.

This conference will focus on how important it is to minimise hydraulic fluid and lubricant contamination, as well as how recent developments may have changed our appreciation of what clean is.

Should I Attend?

This conference is targeted towards the end-users of products such as hydraulic products who want to maintain and clean their systems.

It is also targeted for professionals who are responsible for the maintenance, condition and cleaning of fluid and lubricant products. These could be for a wide range of applications.

Finally, this conference is perfect for the professionals in the field of Lubricants and Hydraulic Fluids. If you fit one of these criteria than this conference will be perfect for you, but even if you have an interest in wanting to take care of your hydraulic system a little better, it could definitely be worth a visit.

There is a whole range of industries that this conference is applicable for, including:

  • Oil companies.
  • Additive manufacturers.
  • Car manufacturers.
  • Hydraulic equipment.
  • Filter manufacturers.

These are just a few of a large range of industries.

What Are the Key Things I’ll Take from This?

There is so much to learn and take from a conference like this one. The main topics covered in this conference will be:

  • Contaminant formation.
  • Varnish – This is an increasing problem in large applications.
  • Developments in the test methods for lubricant cleanliness and assessing fluid.
  • The changes to the classification of cleanliness.
  • The control of fluid cleanliness and contamination (by air, water and particulates).
  • Case studies of the problems associated with cleanliness and with contamination.

Key Information

It will be held on 10th – 11th September at Bath University. The first floor of the Chancellors Building in the Centre for Power Transmission and Motion Control will be the conference’s home for the two days of exhibitions and information. There is a program of talks throughout the two days, and you’ll want to check this beforehand to ensure you get to hear everything you want as well as have time to walk around the stands.

In order to attend this event, you will need to buy a ticket; this also includes an evening dinner at Bailbrook House. You don’t need to be a BFPA member to attend, although there is a discount if you are. The pricing of these tickets along with venue information and event program, is available on the official website here:

Hy-Pro’s Birmingham Distributor Have Moved

Our Birmingham distributor, Hydraulic Equipment Supermarkets, have moved to bigger and better premises.

Now operating from Unit 3, Cheston Road, Aston, Birmingham B7 5EA, the new branch is large enough to accommodate Hy-Pro control valves in addition to a wide range of related products.  With on-site trade counters and warehouses, complete valves, along with sectional valve components and spares are now available the same day from both the Birmingham and Gloucester branches. Both of these HES branches also have workshop facilities for servicing and the building up of Hy-Pro sectional valves.

The new Birmingham branch is centrally located with good access routes and car parking.  Trained support staff are on hand to help.

Our Sales Manager, Mr James Roberts, was pleased to support the opening of the branch last month whilst flying the flag for our British manufactured Hy-Pro valves.

Contact the new branch on 0121 327 2664 and see our website for our full range of Hy-Pro control valves.

The Fluid Power Show at the NEC was celebrated in style by our Hy-Pro team this April.  The last day at the show was also our 50th Birthday and Hy-Pro shareholders, directors and staff drank champagne to mark the occasion.  The toast to our next 50 years was also joined by Andrew Jell, one of the show organisers.  We would like to thank Andrew, Hydraulics & Pneumatics Magazine, Provision Photography and Witherspoons (who lent us champagne glasses) for helping to make the day special.

Once again, the Fluid Power Show was a great success for us and enabled us to showcase our latest products.  Our new radio remote system was an important feature of the display and, paired with our V5-60 sectional solenoid valve, it proved to be a popular diversion for visitors.  Also displayed were our new range of relief valves and our brand new pump with integral oil reservoir.  Our growing list of UK distributors was a key point of interest on the stand.

The Hy-Pro sales contingent (Alan, James and Richard) was boosted on our Birthday by our Quality and Design Departments (headed by Rob and Magnus) and a great day was had by all.  We plan to treat all our staff and their guests to an evening out at the Newton Abbot Races in May for our ‘Official Birthday Party’.

Radio Remote Control – New From Hy-Pro

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new radio remote control system at this year’s Fluid Power & Systems Show.

The new radio remote system complements our established range of solenoid operated control valves.   The system is aimed at small to medium OEMs who need to match the technology of larger companies but do not have the necessary internal expertise to source what they require.

The system comprises a paired base unit and handset, which will control 20 solenoids or 10 valve sections at a range of up to 45m.  Machinery can, therefore, be controlled from within the driver’s cab or from a safe distance.

The handset has a built-in rechargeable battery giving a run time of 10 hours and has a membrane keypad with LED indicators which can be customised for the OEM.  Our customers can choose their own symbols and corporate logo.

We can supply the base unit pre-wired to our customer’s specific requirements and it has auxiliary inputs which may be used for speed or position sensors, or interlock switches.

Our new radio remote control, whilst designed with our own range of Hy-Pro valves in mind, can also be configured for other manufacturers’ valves.

OEMs looking for a remote control solution for their machinery should visit the stand (AF324) at the NEC between 12th to 14th April 2016 for a demonstration and a chat with the experienced technical sales team.  Alternatively, contact Hy-Pro on 01626 863634 and ask for Alan Wilson or James Roberts.  The full range of Hy-Pro control valves can be found at and further information can be found at Hy-Pro Radio Remote

Celebrating 50 Years Of Hy-Pro

We will be 50 Years old this April!

Unbelievably we will have now been trading as Hydraulic Projects Ltd for 50 years this April.  We were founded by Dick Hammond back in the early 1960’s and our name officially became Hydraulic Projects Ltd in 1966.

We began operating in the Morgan Giles boat yard in Teignmouth, South Devon.  Later we moved along the coast to Dawlish into a former cafe!  In the 1980’s a purpose built factory was built to house our own machine shop, assembly shop and offices. A second assembly shop, offices and extensions have followed.

Hy-Pro has always designed it’s own products and these have now moved on over the last 50 years from simple inline valves in the 1960s to three complete ranges of sectional control valves.  Gear pumps and actuators, designed for the marine autopilot industry were also introduced and now form a significant part of our business.  We are now designing electronic remote controls for our ranges and adding new control options.

Many of our staff have been with us for over 30 of those 50 years and these highly experienced people are instrumental in training the next generation.

Machinery and technology has moved on in the last 50 years and we have seen manual machines replaced by the very first CNC machines with peg and punch tape control.  We now have the latest, remotely programmed, pallet loading CNC machines.  Invoices were typed out  in the early days and crude counting machines were used for stock control.  Drawings were done in pencil on drawing boards!  A far cry from our current advanced MRP and Solid Modelling CAD programs at Hy-Pro today.

We hope to see some of our customers at the NEC this April where we will be celebrating our birthday at the Fluid Power Show.
